National Geographic Explorers Hall

For three years, I led the technical multimedia development at Magian Design Studio in Melbourne, Australia. We worked with Explorer’s Hall, a museum at the National Geographic Society  in Washington DC to produce multimedia for their museum exhibits.

We have designed and produced programs for touchscreens and plasma displays, soundscapes and video for a number of these exhibits. In each case Magian was also responsible for all technical design, specification and implementation.

Many of the changing exhibit programs focus on the extraordinary achievements of National Geographic and its support of individuals whose work seeks to expand the understandings we have of the world. My role were project management, technical direction and video editing.

Designed interactive exhibits including -

  • “Undersea Exploration” – an interactive exhibit examining the life work of William Beebe, Dr. Bob Ballard, Jacques Cousteau and Dr. Sylvia Earle
  • “Paleontology” an interactive exhibit examining the archaeology work of National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence, Dr. Paul Sorreno.
